Canary Wharf Crossrail station is the latest development to use specialist architectural cladding systems from Euroclad for its futuristic footbridge entrance to the new flagship station. The project introduces a brand new Crossrail station located on the North Dock of West India Quay, East London and is just one of many stations in development for the new Crossrail scheme.
Euroclad systems were specified for the exterior cladding of the new Adams Plaza Bridge, designed by Adamsons Associates, which is an elevated entrance from One Canada Square to Crossrail Place. The new station boasts state-of-the-art facilities, including over 9000m² of retail space, some of which is located 22 metres below the water level.

The Canary Wharf Crossrail station is the first and the largest construction to date within the Crossrail development, which aims to improve travel across London and South East England. Situated in one of London's prime locations, the station provides several retail, leisure and transport facilities, plus a rooftop garden, all together underneath a striking, semi-open air lattice roof.
Euroclad worked with designers and contractors Lakesmere to install over 700m² of the Alucobond® Plus soffit cladding system to the exterior of the new Adams Plaza Bridge. The specialist material was specified in white to match the overall contemporary appearance of the new station, which has been designed to complement and contrast with the surrounding architecture.
The Alucobond® Plus material is particularly popular for architectural projects due to its easy, flawless application. The lightweight, pre-fabricated panels come ready to install to speed up application time which can be crucial to the overall success of a project. The versatile material can be easily formed and folded to adapt to the shape of buildings using conventional tools, whilst maintaining its original rigidity and flatness for a seamless finish, without affecting is stability.
The material is constructed using two 0.5mm thick aluminium sheets, either side of a mineral-filled core. This offers a highly weatherproof finish to protect the building from harsh conditions and keep the walls dry and protected from excessive moisture. Alucobond® Plus is made using sustainable materials, with recyclable aluminium sheets and core.
